LinkedIn Answers was launched this week. Today I posted the question:

“Will LinkedIn Answers reduce the need for user manuals and technical authors?
Or are these services needed as a result of the “missing manual” syndrome?”

See http://www.linkedin.com/answers?viewQuestion=&questionID=6759&askerID=39724

I received 13, very thoughtful, answers.

What do you think?

Excellent post. You have touched on one of the most important trends in our industry – the transfer of information at the “grassroots” level. While I don’t believe that this will obsolete manuals and online help, I do think that users are going to rely more on mechanisms like wikis, forums, and blogs to obtain quick answers.
