Our client is a high-tech startup company based in Oxford, which is growing rapidly and is looking to recruit a Senior Technical Author (and a Technical Author).

The purpose of its products is make software development projects more successful, and this has lead to them being used by many prestigious organisations around the world.

Technical Authors are an integral and valued part of the development team, and this is an opportunity to join a dynamic team in the early stages of product and company development.

In this role, you will work closely with the developers on software projects. This means, in practice, you’ll be:

• Working with them so you understand how the software works
• Helping them identify any usability issues with the user workflow
• Coordinating their input on the technical reviews of the documentation

You’ll be responsible for:

• Designing, writing and maintaining the user documentation
• Assisting in the planning of User Assistance
• Assisting in the implementation of any improvements to the Help systems
• Creating video tutorials that assist new users

You must have experience as a Technical Author, and have:

• A clear and concise writing style
• The ability and enthusiasm to learn new technologies

In particular, they are looking for people who enjoy:

• Learning about new concepts and explaining technical information clearly to users
• Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team

• Being able to make a real difference to the products and how the users experience them

For the senior role, you must also have experience of:

• Developing software, ideally using C++, C, or Java
• Using commonly used development tools, such as version control systems and issue tracking systems

Salary for this senior role will depend on your level of experience and capabilities.
