#4047 Contract Technical Author, Cambridge, 3- 5 months, £32/hour

Our client is looking for a contract Technical Author to develop documentation related to their software. The documentation will describe software used by pensions providers sector; it will be used by internal staff to understand the system - what it is , how it works, data models etc.

They want to engage a contractor for three months initially, with a likely contract extension thereafter. A lot of information will need to gathered through interviewing Subject Matter Experts on site, although some off-site work will be possible. Given the specialist nature of their work, you need to have past, relevant experience of pensions, SIPPs or similar.

#4003 Technical Author, Aviation sector, central Switzerland

This client modifies helicopters and aircraft so they can be used for specialist purposes, and it is looking to recruit a Technical Author to join its team and develop documentation for assisting its customers.

You need to have experience as a Technical Author in the aviation industry and excellent English skills. You also need to be able to work in Switzerland (i.e. an EU National) and have some basic knowledge of German (in order to integrate into the team).

We have a prospective project that may require a technical author with experience of documenting medical equipment You'll be working remotely from the client as part of the Cherryleaf project team, documenting equipment used in hospitals. You need to have direct experience in this field.

#3944 Visual Database Specialist for Training Systems (Switzerland)

Our client is look for someone to produce and maintain visual databases for their flight training devices.This includes defining and producing training system database specifications.

You will be:

• Producing and processing of requests for information and quotations for customers, sub-contractors and suppliers 
• Developing, defining, designing and producing customer specific visual databases
• Carrying out quality control and initial acceptance
• Supporting the customers in any technical discrepancy reporting and rectification
• Responsible for project control related to technical, quality and schedule issues 

You must have:

• At least 4 years experience in software development and real time visual simulation; preferably in a simulation development environment
• Experience in programming (ideally in C++)
• An understanding of terrain processing tools 
• An understanding of 3D modelling/rendering
• An understanding of digital photography, video and image processing 

Ability to communicate fluently and write in English. Additional qualifications in German, French or Spanish would also be beneficial.

#3914 Technical Author (Aerospace), £50K-£55K, Lucerne, Central Switzerland

Our client is looking for an experienced technical author to produce operation and procedural Data Modules and page blocks, as well as MIL-SPEC Specifications from engineering reports, drawings and manuals.

You'll be producing service bulletins, letters, field service instructions and other aircraft modification packages, as well as draft illustrations,schematic diagrams and illustration production packages. This will also involve organising and discussing maintenance procedures with the engineering departments.

You need to:

• Have at least 5 years experience as a technical author writing aircraft mechanical technical documentation to ATA and S1000D specifications
• Be able to produce electronic Technical Publications in SGML/XML, SGML
• Be proficient in using MS Word and FrameMaker + SGML
• Be experienced in the use of AECMA simplified English
• Be an EU or Swiss National

Writing your covering letter

The covering letter should contain information for Cherryleaf about your preferences, e.g. location and salary . We also need to know that, for contract work, you can prove your freelance status. We will not send your covering letter to a prospective employer unless with your express permission.
