Over recent months, we’ve been using AI to conduct a monthly survey that tracks hiring demand for Technical Authors across the UK. The market for documentation professionals remains broadly stable. Demand for Technical Writer roles has eased slightly, while Technical Author roles have grown modestly.

About the data
These totals are approximate and include some cross‑posted jobs, but they give a good sense of the trend.
We’ve discovered Totaljobs, Jobsite and CWJobs are Stepstone‑owned boards, which explains why they show similar counts. We will probably only include one Stepstone‑owned board next time.
The spike in author numbers reflects the inclusion of engineering and defence documentation on Adzuna. Overall, the data suggest a small net increase in opportunities with a shift toward broader author positions.
